Stop Negotiating With Who You Used To Be

It's Monday — and before your feet even hit the floor, the old identity is already trying to talk you out of your week. This isn't a motivation problem. It's not a strategy problem. It's an identity problem.

In this short, punchy Motivational Monday episode, Katie calls out the version of you that's running old software on a life she's already outgrown — and makes the case for raising your identity instead of chasing your goals.

"You don't rise to the level of your goals. You rise to the level of your identity. So today we raise the identity. The week follows."

This week's practice:

Before you do anything else today, write one sentence: Who are you this week? Present tense. No hedging. Write the woman you're stepping into — not the woman you're afraid you still are. That sentence is your identity for the week. Live from her.

katie: It's Monday and you woke up this Monday and maybe something in you already started negotiating. Maybe it was subtle. You checked your phone before you even got out of bed. You let that mental noise in before you made a conscious decision about who you were going to be today. And this Monday, it's different because even if the self-doubt showed up, even if The questioning showed up, even if the uncertainty showed up, we are going to take this week by storm. Because this is not a motivation problem. This is not a strategy problem. This is an identity opportunity. Because the version of you that woke up today, make sure you chose her. Make sure you pause right now, whenever you're listening to this. And maybe she's the one that was built for survival. Maybe she is the adapted identity that you created for a previous season of your life that is actually no longer relevant to where you're going right now. So this is your moment where you pause and you realize: look, I am headed in a different direction. I am changing my state. Get up and do some movement. Jump up and down a hundred times if you need to. Do some air squats if you need to. But this moment right here is where. You pause and you take control. Look at the adapted identity. You say, I love you. You've been here the whole time. You got me here. And I'm not repeating the life that I've already lived. I'm creating something new. Today you are deciding what version of you shows up this week. And you're making that a conscious decision. You are deciding that who you be now is going to be the woman that creates the life that you say you want to create. And We are not negotiating on this. We are not going to allow our adapted identity to take over and move through this week and get to Sunday and be like, ⁓ I did it again. No, today is the day where you are going to show up and you are going to no longer wait to feel ready. You're going to no longer wait for clarity. You're going to no longer wait to have more details or more information or talk to six other people. You are going to tune into yourself. And you are going to ask yourself, who am I being this week? And what is my next best step? And those two things, those two decisions are going to carry you through the week because you're going to come back to them every single day and maybe multiple times per day. Because the woman that you desire to be is not. Over there in the future, somewhere. She is something you can embody right now. She's a version of you that already exists, which is why you can feel so connected to her in moments, which is why she comes to you in visions and feelings and daydreams. And you can even see examples of her out in the world. So make the choice today to choose her in this moment and embody her right now. She's already in there and it's time because there's no more time to waste. There's no excuses. There's no going back. We are taking this week head on together. We are ready to embody our future selves right now, no matter what shows up, because you and I both know that who we be is not connected to our circumstances. It is not influenced. Right by external circumstances, or what she is saying, or what they are saying, or what your mind might be saying from that old perspective, right? There might be some fear that comes up, there might be some self-doubt that comes up. But here's the deal: you are capable. You are capable. And we're taking this one moment at a time because we don't rise to the level of our goals. We rise to the level of our identity. And so today we embrace that identity and the weak. will reorient itself around that. And before you do anything else today, I want you to take a moment right now and write down one sentence. If you don't have a paper and pen, put it in the notes app on your phone. But write down who are you committed to being this week? Who are you committed to being? And then set an alarm in your phone that goes off every single day at a certain time to remind you to check back in with that sentence of who you're committed to being this week because that is where we're going. This week we are committed to progress, not perfection. This is about progress. What step can you take? What's the next best move? And who are you committed to being? This is the beginning of a new week, the beginning of the future you now, and I want you to go and create it. Create a life that is beyond, beyond the mind, beyond the stories, and beyond the limits.
